Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
Its towering branches spread like arms across the savannah, embracing all who come seeking shelter, nourishment and support for their lives; this is the lore of the baobab tree. Found across the African continent, these giants, capable of reaching 75 feet tall with a circumference of 60 feet, are the subject of many native legends. Some tribes believe its sparse branches are actually its roots, exposed when God stuffed the tree, head first, into the earth to stop it from complaining. Edition of 2000.
